S t r e t c h i n g their dollar!
Here are just a few ways that some companies have saved themselves big bucks by making simple changes:
–In 1987 American Airlines decided to eliminate one olive from each salad that it served, and in the process saved $40, 000 per year. –American Standard, the maker of plumbing fixtures and air conditioners, is saving $70, 000 a year at a plant in Tyler, Tex., by having its crew vacuum the entryway floor mats instead of sending out the mats for cleaning.
–Xerox is saving $200, 000 a year by cutting out a plant-watering service; employees have installed an "adopt a plant" program to keep the foliage hydrated.
